There is a bug in R117 that resets or turns off the modem. Reverting to 116 resets the firmware and allows Verizon.
R119 addresses the issue and starts rolling out Nov 14, 2023 - LINK
The fix we have found:
- Recover the Chromebooks to 116 - Download image here: LINK
- Recover, wait 5 minutes, then press Refresh-Power (EC Reset)
- The Chromebook reboots, wait about 5 minutes (could be less) and Verizon will show. If no Verizon after 5-10 minutes try EC Reset again
- Connect to Verizon
- OTA updates to 118 after this all have worked
